In today’s landscape, where the boundary between the visible and the invisible, between science and faith, is increasingly examined, a luminous and complex figure emerges: Angela Volpini.
From a very young age she experienced mystical encounters that were even consulted during the Second Vatican Council, and today she converses with eminent scientific minds such as Professor Federico Faggin. The introductory image bears the hopeful and concrete message: “I have come to teach you the way of happiness on earth.” This invitation urges us to question the deeper meaning of existence. Through her singular perspective, Angela Volpini will guide us on a journey that touches the soul, history, and future. Let us prepare to explore the limits of knowledge and human experience through her words.
Question
I would like to start here: this year marks 79 years since your 80 apparitions (1947‑1956). There is a phrase I love very much: “I have come to teach you the way of happiness on earth.” Apart from this sentence, what did the Virgin transmit to you in all those occasions? What did you receive as a gift?
Answer
The gift is communication itself; the vision is communication.
I had no notion of how Christians depict God or what relationship they have with the Divine. At seven years old we do not explore such matters; we are taken to church mainly because there is nowhere else to bring all of this. As children we go to church because, outside of it, there is simply “church.”
Consequently, my view of how believers usually relate to the Divine was very limited, but I certainly learned a new way of relating.
Question
In this encounter you learned something new: that the relationship with the Divine is made of love and freedom, or that there is no real relationship at all. Because, as I have read elsewhere, man is the creator. You teach and say that when you received this gift you understood the freedom that is given to us.
Answer
Freedom and creativity.
I realized that human beings are always free, because we must give meaning and significance to what we do.
If we are not free, we cannot assign meaning or significance to the choices we make from moment to moment.
We are free to set the purposes we desire, to choose what we want, and we are creative in order to realise what we have chosen.
Question
When people come to you asking for personal growth, for an evolution—whether religious, or a rapprochement with their own essence, their higher Self, themselves—what do you transfer at that moment?
Answer
The only way to be at peace with oneself and to give meaning to one’s life is to be oneself.
To be oneself we must listen deeply, identify our true needs, the fundamental desire that lies within us, and strive to realise it concretely.
In that way, at least, there is coherence.
Question
Regarding Federico Faggin, for example: he also made a drastic, courageous choice. He founded a foundation and wrote important essays. What did you see in that man?
Answer
I saw great courage and strong faith in saying, “I am here.”
There is the courage to narrate the most intense experience he has lived in his life. That experience is followed by a choice, and the choice is the courage to say what he has felt and perceived. Perhaps he has not yet managed to articulate it completely, but it is clear that he possesses a different vision of both the human being and what we might call God, the Divine, or Essence.
Question
I was struck to read that, among the many interviews and reflections you have given, there was a dialogue with a secular theologian—Argentinian, if I am not mistaken—about the relationship between science and faith.
Answer
In my view, science is our way of making art at this moment: discovery, knowledge. It is important to grasp it and understand it, because through it we can organise our lives, improve them, and make them more aligned with our deepest desire.
We can improve science because it is part of the evolutionary process of the human being. If we understand it well, it can become a tool for our personal realisation.
Naturally, an unoriented science can also destroy us. But that is inevitable: every discovery that allows us to take a step forward can also cause a great step backward.
I am, however, optimistic and I believe in the deep desire of the human being. I do not think people are so blind as to choose the backward step. I trust that they will make forward strides.
Question
We hope this especially today, with new technologies, artificial intelligence, and a certain lack of critical spirit that seems to characterise contemporary humanity.
Answer
Yes, at the moment humans are a bit like they are in hibernation. There is a need for a wake‑up.
Question
How would you urge them to awaken?
Answer
They experience the awakening through their own lives, becoming more alive, truly tasting existence. Otherwise, gradually, they risk becoming…
Question
Zombies?
Answer
Zombies.
Question
Without intending polemic, I was struck by reading about your experience with some Latin‑American bishops and cardinals before the Second Vatican Council. How was that experience?
Answer
It was a very clear moment for me, because I thought the bishops were people without faith. During the Council I realised that they also have faith. For me it was a positive experience. As for the specifics, I cannot say what internal changes truly occurred. There were evaluations, reflections on what could be done, but I have not followed in detail what eventually emerged.
Question
Regarding your spiritual experience, have there been other apparitions?
Answer
No. I live my life, my battles, my hopes, my solutions, like an ordinary person. All my life is inspired by the experience I had; I cannot flee from it. That does not mean there are no successes and also failures. One always interacts with people who do not resonate on the same wavelength, the same length of soul.
I am, however, positive by nature, optimistic. I always hope that from every human being emerges that light each carries within.
Question
I was impressed when you said: “Only positive things.”
Answer
Yes, only positive things. There are many of them that we do not see, because negative ones hit us more strongly: they are against us, so we notice them immediately. Positive ones, precisely because they are in our favour, we have more difficulty recognising. It requires a little more attention, but in reality there are far more positives than negatives.
Question
May I ask a delicate question, if you wish to answer? When you lived these experiences, what relationship did you have with the Shadow?
Answer
I have had no relationship with the Shadow.
Question
No attacks?
Answer
Absolutely none. I do not even believe in it. I have had no such experience. I have had a radical experience of my own freedom, and consequently of the freedom of others.
I think what has been called “Shadow” or “devil” is actually our freedom. Because then we are taught from which side to stand.
I have only known the possibilities of humanity.
We thank Angela Volpini for offering us glimpses of a wisdom that transcends time and disciplines, inviting us to rediscover the path of happiness on earth, with the soul turned toward the infinite and the feet firmly planted in the present. Her reflections are a precious beacon for navigating the complexities of our age.
