After the Scandriglia Film Festival, we meet Edoardo Dagoberti, a young artist who took an active part in the organization of the event.
Edoardo, we saw you on the stage of the Sant’Antonio Theatre in Scandriglia during the Film Festival. You were translating the words of the festival organizer Skip Shea. How did the idea of involving you in the event come about?
It came about because Skip did not have his interpreter who, for family reasons, could not come. So, since I speak English and learn it, I wanted to help Skip, and, for me, it was a wonderful experience.
In addition to translations during the Festival, what did you do to prepare the festival and what, in the meantime, did you learn from Skip?
We spent days rehearsing. There was collaboration, friendship and, above all, much fun.
Where did you study English? What would you advise other young people to brush it up?
As a child I always spoke English: my father is Australian, so my brother and I know it very well. As a child I communicated on the internet with American friends.
You are yet to turn eighteen. What does it mean to you? How will you celebrate your eighteenth birthday?
Being eighteen: I think I will be able to get my driver’s license but even then I will remain the boy I am, with the desire to explore, to live adventures, to discover new places and to get my high school diploma. I will celebrate my eighteenth anniversary in Scandriglia with my mother, my brother and friends.
What are you currently studying? What studies would you still like to do in order to make your dreams come true?
I am in the third year of human sciences. First I will get my diploma, then I will see. I also attend opera singing school and I love horseback riding: it relaxes me, it gives me a sense of freedom.
How do you experience the province? What do you think are the advantages of living there, for a young man?
I do not like living in the city, in chaos. I love living here: going up into the mountains, exploring. I am very curious. The advantage is that you can go out in the evening with friends and there are no dangers, it is quiet here.
How was the Scandriglia Film Fest experience for you: would you relive it in 2027?
The experience was very beautiful: I met nice people, nice and full of culture. Yes, I would do it again, with more awareness.
Tell us about your artistic interests. How do you imagine your future in arts?
My greatest interest is to help my mother who has been raising me and my brother alone. With friends of mine, I go on horseback excursions to the mountains, I study both at school and singing. My future is to grow in whatever activity I want to undertake such as traveling and visiting new places.
Tell us about the family supporting you.
My family is my mother Stefania, a great-hearted person who, all by herself, for eleven years has been both mother and father to me. It is thanks to her that I am the boy I am: she supports mein every single thing and is always present. We cultivate hobbies of country-side and horse riding. She is not just a mother, but also a friend.
Invite people to Scandriglia to visit it and to the Film Fest for the new edition next year.
Of course, I will invite my friends from Romе. I’d like them to understand what this festival represents, and my school to be aware of it.
We thank Edoardo Dagoberti for the interview and invite our readers to the next edition of Scandriglia Film Fest in 2027.
